I spoke to my coach who said that pale colored stool or clay-colored stool is a sign of bile drainage problems. I'm looking at pancreas, liver, gallbladder problems. He's since told me to stop the celery juice and drink a liver/gallbladder detox drink. The directions could be a bit more precise but I get the point. I'm suppose to do this on an empty stomach 2-3x a day.

1/2 lemon juice
hot/warm water
1tsp turmeric powder
1/2-1tsp ginger powder
a couple of pinches of black pepper

Stir and drink all of it, including the dregs.

In another group, I read coffee enemas are good. Time to research that.

What happened between February and September?

In February, I injured myself rebounding and ended up with multiple herniated discs throughout my spine. Then came a hiatal hernia and an upgrade to my already low stomach acid which came in the form of GERD/LPR.

So what do you have now and how are you treating it?

BACK PAIN

  • I did sciatica stretches (via "Bob and Brad" videos - bless!) as often as I could. I have a problem in the apartment where I cant lay on the floor much. This will be sorted when I move next spring, I hope. When I could do the stretches, they helped. I believe continuation of this, better posture, and standing desks should help. That, and walking more often. I need to be gentle with my body. I forgot that I'm no longer a 20 year old. I'm more than twice that number now.

HIATAL HERNIA/ GERD/ LPR/ LOW STOMACH ACID

  • This is all related. I massaged my hiatal hernia by using a downward sliding motion.
  • The GERD/LPR caused me the most pain in this section as I started to lose my voice and had trouble swallowing.
  • I started to get esophageal cancer scares. I treated this by taking HCL with pepsin, but my numbers kept climbing, so I looked at what else I could do. For my throat I was sipping "Throat Coat" by Traditional Medicinals (from grocery store) throughout the day, taking D-limonene capsules for when things got really bad with the acid and slept on a wedge pillow from Bed Bath and Beyond. (I wasn't going to pay a couple hundred dollars!)
  • AVOIDED - mint (in food and scents) and chocolate related things (as of this writing, i can have chocolate again, but mint still triggers my LPR)
  • I also ate less. I never ate till full. I always left the table a little hungry, which was challenging because I always ate my fill. However, this combination of things helped a LOT!  Eventually, my hiatal hernia became a 'sliding' hiatal hernia. Still an improvement. My LPR symptoms were under control, but my low acid was not.

THRUSH

  • Yeah. Well, I had some at the start of this ordeal, so I was wondering when it would really show itself. Thrush worsened as I was not on a protocol for candida. I'm still dealing with this (see below).

CONSTIPATION and EXISTING ISSUES

I did the above stuff, and kept at it still, but I was facing the issue of constipation and only having one bowel movement (BM) a day. I ate less, too. So this is what I'm dealing with now plus my low stomach acid issue. The above stuff is all just managing symptoms. The real issue is still being addressed.

CURRENT PROTOCOL
  • OIL PULLING - for thrush; oil of oregano (good ol' P73!) and clove oil in coconut oil. I also follow up with activated charcoal for die off symptoms. (For my turpentine protocol, i used chlorella to deal with detox, but for this one the charcoal is much more effective, plus, I like the chlorella as a food)
  • CULTURED KEFIR - This I got from The Kefir Company. This kefir is far more superior than the grains i had been keeping alive all this time. It helped kick things into gear.
  • I have fermented vegetables, but .. they're sitting at my friend's work place at the moment. I have pests at home and can't ferment here right now. So he does it for me in an empty drawer at his job. :) I'm still new to this, but once i figure out a recipe i like, I'll share.
  • CELERY JUICE  - I just did this today. About 1 hour after juice, I had a BM. I hadn't had BMs in the morning for at least a month or so.. The celery juice is rather bitter, though.

SUPPORT

I was told I needed support for my candida protocl, as it can tear apart relationships and is emotionally taxing etc. Yeah. I experienced a lot of that first hand and things were bleak for me more than once. When you're suffering, it's hard when no one is there for you, and even worse when the people you thought would be decide that your suffering is too much for them or is cramping their style etc - but I can write about that another time.

Eventually, I joined several facebook groups. I typically don't but i joined one once I got LPR as I was so desperate for help. Eventually I found a group that was pretty helpful (so far). We'll see how things progress. There's some drama in here from time to time, but I generally ignore it. There isn't anyone in these groups that I turn to for emotional support. I'm here for answers. As for my emotions go, I invested in several blank journals and art supplies (not to be used together, though I suppose they could be.)

I was going to set up a Blogger for all of this as I felt I wanted to start fresh, but when Im going through protocol, i feel like crap and just don't want to do anything, so I figure it would be alright if I stayed here for a bit until I can be more reliable.

DISCLAIMER

I should add that my links above are NOT affiliate links. They are things I use. Even the amazon links are just quick searches for what i use and I copy/pasted the link from that. I'm not out to cheat anyone as I've been cheated too. I just want to heal and if I can help someone else along the way by sharing what I did, why not?

Protocol Stage & Name:
 Bill Thompson's Anti-Candida Protocol

This protocol is intended to be modified according to the patient's symptoms so its really a loose guideline for everyone. As such, I'm adjusting as I go. I am returning to this protocol after trying CanXida which didn't do anything for me apart from stave off symptoms.

  • Sunday - rest, but still take lugols
  • Monday - gum turpentine with honey, followed with chlorella. I prefer this over the castor oil + gum turps, honestly. I also take lugol's iodine, and alkalize, but as for which drinks I use, that's still a mess unto itself.
  • Tuesdays, Thursday, and Saturday - I take lugol's iodine, castor oil + gum turpentine, chlorella, alkalize
  • Wednesday and Friday - are my borax water days. Lugols as usual and alkalize

It sounds so simple but the alkalizing drinks are much more complex than I'd like. Plus, I really hate the castor oil days Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. If castor oil weren't so good for my bowels, I would leave it out entirely, but it keeps things moving which means less constipation and cramping. Everything about this protocol is about how I react to things and the other in which I take them. It's a pain. I don't know how others get through it, but I'm guessing its just one of those things we tough out because we want to get better.

On my first run of this protocol, I had plateaued. I have some ideas as to what to do at those points this time, so now it's a matter of getting there again. I want to get to that point faster because it may mean less expense, but I can't rush things. My body needs to adapt or the toxins that the candida releases when it dies just overwhelm me.

Physical Symptoms Endured:
So far, I have experienced bloating, cramping, dehydration, loose bowels, light brain fog (cant process anything complex), lethargy, indigestion, drowsiness after eating - which is all normal for me from the first time I took this protocol. I also started this week with a weird eye twitch on the outer lower eyelid of my left eye. I wonder if it's related to the blind spot thing? Occasional cold hands and feet. Randomly pale skin. Lightly mottled skin, not as severe as in some of those Google images, and I've had worse than this, so I'm doing better with this part as far as intensity goes. Also, I no longer have the skin stinging sensation I had before, so yes. Improvement.

Existing symptoms are post-nasal drip, excessive ear wax production, a kind of 'congestion' around my right knee, neck pain, sinus pressure headaches.

Emotional Symptoms Endured:
Lack of interest in anything and low morale at some points, esp when I had to use the toilet 5x in an hour. The feeling of that was so draining on my body. I haven't hit the depression low point yet. I expect to the further along I get. I vividly remember that feeling of hopelessness, but for now, I am fighting. I did hit some sad points early on in the week, but nothing I couldn't climb out of on my own. i should mention a shorter fuse, but I think that's going to be the norm for anyone dealing with illness.

Assorted Details:
I need to watch my food intake. Off the protocol, I would eat more, but that may be more then candida cravings than me actually being hungry. I also had to deal with constipation later one which is why I would take turps and castor oil on occasion to help with that.

Hardest Parts:
Castor oil and the alkalizing drinks where it says "add baking soda till it stops fizzing". I ended up with 9.5 tea spoons and it was just so gross, I refused it. Lack of motivation. I know its an emotional thing but this really kills my progress on anything. I had one moment where I had a burst of energy, felt good and was happy. It lasted 30 minutes. I miss feeling 'normal'.

Current Symptoms:
Runny nose, post nasal drip, sinus pressure headache, neck pain (from sinus pressure and pinched nerves on both sides), lethargy, slight brain fog

Castor Oil and Turpentine

I expected my body to have grown accustomed to this protocol even after it has been about 5 months since taking it last and 1 year for actual consistency of it. I expected light symptoms. Yup. That'll teach me.

8:30 am : Lugol's Iodine : 8 drops in water with 1/4tsp celtic salt and companion nutrients.
9 30 am : 1T Castor Oil + 1tsp Gum Turpentine : mix in glass, swish in mouth, swallow.
Make breakfast as normal. Block for 1 hr meal. Have vitamins with meal (Though it always ends up right after meal.)
11:30am : Chlorella

That did not go well. I noticed mild discomfort at around 11am, before I took the chlorella. Then it went south from there. What was suppose to be a cake walk turned into me groaning and gripping my stomach and lower intestines. I felt bloated in my abdomen and cramping in my intestines at 1, 2, 3 o'clock. I was fine with this last week. I thought for sure, I'd be okay again, but apparently I was not.

So I'm slowly getting back on Bill's protocol, which I felt was more effective for me than the CanXida was. However, there is clearly an adjustment period. I remember taking weeks to customize Bill's protocol for myself due to all the different symptoms that show up. At my best, I was taking 24-30 drops of iodine a day, and when I started again 3 days ago, doing 16 a day was a bit much for me. Today I've only done 8 so far, and I may stop there for now.

I'm trying out the example in Bill's book as far as scheduling goes. I find there are some contraditions within this example and Bill's recommended dosages, especially between the borax and lugol's iodine.

Problem : Low Stomach Acid

Another issue is that my digestion was getting better while I was off protocol, but getting back on it, I have apparently returned to getting drowsy after eating. I had lunch 2 hours ago followed with vitamins as usual, but I got sleepy shortly after. Now I can barely see the screen to type. My tummy feels very heavy and I could easily have a nap, except I don't like napping while I feel so full. Maybe I should reduce my intake since the drinks also add to the feeling of fullness? I wonder if the drinks also dilute what little stomach acid I do have?

Solution :

I may have to resort to troubleshooting this with 1T Organic Apple Cider VInegar with the mother in 1c water (Need to double check the water ratio, again. It's either 1c or 1 glass). Take this 15m before meals, I think. I'll also shrink my plate stacking. I need to be careful though; too little and I get cramps from not enough food.

I know I can always buy HCL, but being the broke chick that I am, I already have AVC on hand and I buy the stuff regularly enough. Also, I want to minimize pill intake. I feel like a walking pharmaceutical. I may have some OACV now and just put the rest of the protocol on hold till I feel better. It's silly to force so much on my system after being off the protocol for so long.

Don't worry, CanXida. I haven't forgotten about you. I just want to write my review on you when I'm not teetering off my chair.

Info

The contents of this journal is not intended as a cure or medical advice. I am no medical professional. I'm just a broke sick person trying to find a way to live.

Everyone who has candida has their own custom journey. This isn't really a guide or tutorial to anything. It's more like a narrative in my head to remind myself what I went through, what I've tried, where I've failed, and if I'm lucky, what has worked. The brain fog is real, and anything that can help me think things out or process thought is welcome. Like everyone else who has been conscripted by candida, I just want to get better and get outta here.
